SIRA registered · No gap on an accepted claim · Five Dock

WorkCover physiotherapy, Inner West Sydney

Every physiotherapist and exercise physiologist who treats you here is individually registered with SIRA. Their registration numbers are on the team page.

SIRA is the State Insurance Regulatory Authority, the body that oversees workers compensation and CTP in New South Wales. A practitioner has to be registered with SIRA to treat and invoice on a claim.

That is not a distinction most clinics publish, and it is worth checking before you book anywhere. We list every clinician's registration number on the team page so you or your case manager can verify it without asking.

Treatment

What treatment actually looks like

A workers compensation claim has clinical obligations attached to it that a private appointment does not. Both halves are covered here.

Assessment and diagnosis

A full assessment at the first appointment, and a clear explanation of what is injured and what recovery is likely to involve. That explanation goes to your GP and your insurer as well as to you.

Hands-on treatment

Manual therapy, soft tissue work, dry needling and taping where they are indicated, alongside the exercise programme. The mix changes as the injury moves through its stages.

Reporting

Management plans, progress reports and functional updates written to the format insurers and case managers work from. Late or thin reporting is one of the commonest reasons treatment approval stalls.

Coordination

We talk to your GP, your employer, your case manager and any workplace rehabilitation provider involved. Most delays on a claim are communication problems rather than clinical ones.

Your rights

Choosing your own physiotherapist

In New South Wales you choose who treats you. Your employer or the insurer may suggest a provider, and you are under no obligation to attend them. If you have been told otherwise, that is not correct.

You can also change physiotherapist partway through a claim. It does not require the insurer's permission, though telling your case manager keeps the approvals moving. Bringing your existing notes across makes the handover cleaner.

Both schemes

We treat under workers compensation and under CTP after a motor accident. The two schemes differ in how a claim is opened and who approves treatment, and both are billed directly to the insurer.

Common questions

Questions we get asked

What does SIRA registered mean?
SIRA is the NSW State Insurance Regulatory Authority. Practitioners must be registered with it to treat and invoice on workers compensation and CTP claims. Every clinician here holds a current registration and the numbers are published on our team page.
Can I choose my own physiotherapist on WorkCover?
Yes. In NSW the choice is yours. Your employer or insurer can suggest someone, and you do not have to attend them.
Can I change physiotherapist partway through my claim?
Yes, and it does not need the insurer's approval. Let your case manager know so treatment approvals continue without a gap.
Is there a gap fee?
No. On an accepted claim we invoice your insurer at SIRA rates and there is nothing for you to pay.
